My First Photo Session

It starts with the nerves. Maybe I was overthinking how the day would go. Maybe I was concerned about my lack of training in photography. Or maybe I was afraid that I couldn’t communicate with my clients. Whatever it was, doubt was creeping in the back of my mind.

Yet from saying hello and having nice small talk, to actually taking the pictures felt like I was doing something with a passion. I might be overexaggerating, but it felt like I found something that could bring some kind of joy.

Seeing the smile on their faces, being able to work with different poses, learning more about my camera, all while the hours going by fast, was an experience that I will carry with me for the rest of my photography career.

It also does mean something to clients when they learn that they have the honor of being your ‘first’.

After the shoot, I was ready to make my edits and figure out which photos would be best from my clients while getting their input, and getting their instant reactions. This is one of those moments in my career that could potentially create a small momentum to get the ball rolling. I have a long way to go, but I’m willing to take on the challenge while being able to create memories and bring out the best in my collaborators (my clients).
